China Expels Two Top Military Generals from Party and Armed Forces

Beijing has purged the vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and the former joint staff chief following serious corruption and discipline investigations.

China's leadership has expelled two top military officials from both the Communist Party and the armed forces: Zhang Youxia, widely viewed as the military's second-in-command and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, and General Liu Zhenli, the former chief of the Joint Staff Department. The move was reported by Seznam Zprávy and Yonhap.

According to the reports, the decision was approved during a Politburo meeting presided over by President Xi Jinping, following investigations into serious violations of law and party discipline. Authorities alleged that the two men engaged in bribery linked to personnel promotions, formed internal factions, and displayed political disloyalty.
