Contacts via Qatar and Trump's Refusal: New Details on Iran Talks

New details have emerged regarding contacts between Tehran and Washington over reopening the Strait of Hormuz, following US President Donald Trump's rejection of the Iranian proposal. According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, Iran's seven-day plan was conveyed to the United States through Qatari mediation, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met this week with Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff.

According to Greek news website in.gr, Trump explained his decision by asserting that Tehran wants an agreement because it is "losing very badly," while the United States is prevailing. Dawn further reported that Araghchi emphasized at the United Nations that the choice now rests with Washington, and that his country will not surrender to threats or intimidation.
