Detention of Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Saar and Wife Extended in Bribery Probe

A court has extended until Thursday the detention of Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Saar and his wife, Meital, Globes reported. The couple is suspected of receiving cash bribes from contractors in exchange for rigging tenders, including in urban renewal projects and municipal institution renovations.

According to Globes, police claim to have gathered evidence implicating the mayor in the affair, though his wife was allegedly the one who maintained direct contact with contractors and determined the amounts transferred. Maariv reported that during the hearing, Meital Saar burst into tears, stating the situation is "not simple, to say the least."
