Former Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) director Ronen Bar has filed a three-million-shekel defamation lawsuit against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, news outlets Srugim and Globes reported.

According to a report by i24NEWS, the lawsuit addresses allegations suggesting the former intelligence chief had advance knowledge of the October 7 attack. Globes reported that Bar argues the Shin Bet repeatedly warned Netanyahu throughout 2023 of a potential Hamas assault and presented recommendations to thwart it, which the prime minister ignored. Bar further alleges that Netanyahu spearheaded a policy of containment and funding of Hamas's buildup.

Bar stated that he chose to take legal action after waiting three years for the establishment of a state commission of inquiry, in response to what he described as an ongoing blood libel. A response from the prime minister has not yet been released.
