First UK charges brought over 1994 Rwanda genocide

British law enforcement authorities have for the first time charged a suspect with involvement in the 1994 Rwandan genocide, according to the BBC and Index.hr.

The defendant, 65-year-old Dr Vincent Brown, formerly known as Vincent Bajinya, was arrested and faces seven separate charges.

According to the reports, Brown is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court in London. It marks the first time anyone has faced charges in the United Kingdom over atrocities committed during the genocide in Rwanda.
