Five Days After Appointment: Trump Fires White House Press Secretary

US President Donald Trump has fired White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia just five days after appointing her, Spanish newspaper El País and Hungarian news website Telex reported.

The decision followed Trump asking Zacharia to reconsider whether she wanted to remain in the position. According to Telex, during a press briefing held earlier this week, Zacharia mixed up her husband and the president.

Her departure was also confirmed in a report by The New York Times. The identity of her successor in the White House press office has not yet been announced.
