Flydubai Co-Pilot Identified as Omani National Hammam al-Hamami

The identity of the flydubai co-pilot who attempted to crash the aircraft has been revealed as Hammam al-Hamami, an Omani citizen born to a Syrian mother, news website ynet reported. According to the report, as well as reporting by Kan 11 and Channel 13, al-Hamami confirmed during his interrogation that he planned to crash the plane in Israel.

According to ynet, al-Hamami previously worked for Royal Air Maroc after being suspended from flight duties at Oman Air, and joined flydubai only this year. The report further noted that nine hours after the incident, a video filmed in October 2023 showing an El Al aircraft in Dubai was posted to his LinkedIn account, alongside a photo of an al-Qaeda leader and the caption "not afraid to die."
