The city council of Heidenau, located in the eastern German state of Saxony, has banned the installation of "Stolpersteine" — brass cobblestone plaques embedded in sidewalks to commemorate victims of the Nazi regime. The measure was initiated by the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), according to reports by BBC Russian and Hungarian news outlet 24.hu.
