Google has launched an early experiment allowing its Gemini artificial intelligence system to place phone calls to local businesses on behalf of users, according to technology outlets The Verge and Wired. The feature, dubbed "Call for Me", is rolling out exclusively on the company's Pixel 11 series.
The AI can dial a business, navigate automated voice menus, wait on hold, and hold a conversation to check product availability, book reservations, or reschedule appointments. Users can monitor the interaction through a real-time transcript and step into the call if needed.
