High Court Freezes Communications Law, Orders Government to Defend It
Israel's High Court of Justice has issued an order halting the broadcasting bill and demanding that Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi justify why it should not be struck down.

Israel's High Court of Justice has ordered Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi and the government to explain why the communications law should not be struck down, broadcaster Kan 11 and financial daily Calcalist reported. As part of the decision, the justices issued an order to show cause regarding the petitions filed against the law.
Alongside the order instructing the government to respond to the claims, the High Court temporarily froze the implementation of the broadcasting law pending hearings and a final ruling on the petitions.
At this stage, the timeline set for the state to submit its formal response to the court has not yet been announced, and further details regarding the reasoning behind the decision have not yet been released.
