Pentagon Selects Boeing to Build US Navy's Next-Generation Fighter

Boeing has won a contract valued at over $20 billion to produce the US Navy's next-generation sixth-generation stealth fighter jet.

The United States Department of Defense has selected Boeing to develop and manufacture the US Navy's next-generation stealth fighter jet, in a contract estimated at more than $20 billion, The Jerusalem Post and Greek news outlet iefimerida reported.

The aircraft, designated at this stage as the FA-XX, belongs to the sixth generation of fighter jets. It is slated to replace the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft during the 2030s, operating alongside carrier-capable F-35C jets. Boeing stated that the future platform will feature major advances in open mission systems architecture.

The award marks a second consecutive marquee win for the aerospace manufacturer, following its selection last year to build the F-47 stealth fighter jet for the US Air Force.
