Report: Haniyeh Bodyguard Granted UK Citizenship Planned Attacks on Jews

A former bodyguard of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was granted asylum and citizenship in the United Kingdom a decade ago and planned terror attacks against Jewish targets, according to reports by ynet and Haaretz citing an investigation published in the British press.

The suspect, the son of a senior Hamas figure, settled in the UK in 2015 despite his known ties to the group. According to the reports, he was arrested last year after Israel's Mossad and German intelligence discovered he was planning an attack around the second anniversary of the October 7 assault.

As part of the plot, weapons were smuggled into Vienna, and investigators gathered evidence including trips to Qatar and incriminating video recordings. Further details regarding his identity and legal proceedings have not yet been released.
