Report: US Ambassador Aide Altered and Suppressed Cables to Washington

David Milstein, a senior adviser to US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, systematically suppressed and altered embassy cables bound for officials in Washington, The New York Times and Israeli outlet Walla reported. The investigation was based on interviews with 15 US officials as well as dozens of internal records.

According to reports by Walla and daily newspaper Haaretz, Milstein blocked the transmission of an urgent report detailing record approvals of West Bank settlements in late March, and delayed cables concerning government handling of settler violence. Furthermore, Milstein allegedly rewrote internal warnings about potential mass-casualty events at aid distribution points across the Gaza Strip, recasting the operations as a success.
