Russia to Hike 2027 Defense Budget by 27%

Russia plans to increase its defense spending for 2027 by roughly 27%, according to budget documents reported by Bulgarian newspaper Dnevnik and network i24NEWS.

According to the reports, military expenditure in 2027 is projected to reach 17.1 trillion rubles (approximately $202.58 billion), up from the initially planned 13.5 trillion rubles. This marks the highest level of defense spending since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022. According to i24NEWS, the hike comes alongside an order by President Vladimir Putin for a fourth troop expansion this year. Further details have not yet been released.
