Supermarket Cyberattack Expands to Luxembourg and Estonia

The cyberattack targeting supermarket refrigeration systems has widened, with fresh disruptions reported in Luxembourg and Estonia.

New reports indicate that the cyberattack targeting European supermarket chains has expanded, with refrigeration and freezing units disrupted in Luxembourg and Estonia as well, news agency Interfax and Greek newspaper Naftemporiki reported.

According to the reports, control systems for refrigerators across dozens of supermarkets were breached and temperatures were intentionally raised, following similar disruptions reported earlier. Citing a report in The Guardian, Interfax noted that the breach of management systems put store cooling units out of operation.

The identities of those behind the attacks and the exact extent of financial damage in the affected stores across these countries have not yet been released.
