Suspected AI Use: Goncourt Academy Drops Novel from Selection

The French Académie Goncourt has removed author Thélyson Orélien’s novel, "C’était ça ou mourir", from its prestigious prize selection amid suspicions that artificial intelligence was used to write it, as reported by Radio-Canada and G4Media.

Orélien, a 38-year-old Quebec-based writer of Haitian origin, had been hailed as a major literary revelation of the autumn season in the French-speaking world, with his debut novel earning praise and nominations for several leading literary awards.

Following the decision to exclude the book, the novel’s publisher firmly rejected the allegations of AI use, denouncing them as "fake news".
