TikTok has reached its first state-level settlement in the United States over claims regarding teen safety, according to reports by Rappler and Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

Under the agreement with the state of Alabama, which secured a $100 million settlement, the platform agreed to introduce new user limits and age-verification measures. Among the restrictions, TikTok will implement a daily limit of two hours for children.

The agreement follows claims by Alabama that the social media platform endangers minors and misleads consumers about its safety features. Further details regarding the rollout of the limits elsewhere have not yet been released.
