UAE: flydubai Co-Pilot Planned to Crash Plane at Ben-Gurion Airport

The co-pilot who attempted to hijack a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv planned to crash the aircraft into Ben-Gurion Airport, the UAE Attorney-General's office confirmed, as reported by Haaretz and Walla. According to Emirati authorities, the pilot, an Omani national, intended to inflict mass casualties and drew inspiration from the September 11 attacks.

During his interrogation, the co-pilot confessed that he acted alone and without external assistance, The Jerusalem Post also reported. Investigators further revealed that he had visited Israel at least twice beforehand to study the flight route and the airport layout in advance.
