US Military Declares End of Anti-ISIS Mission in Iraq

The Pentagon announced the completion of troop withdrawals and the formal conclusion of Operation Inherent Resolve.

The United States military and the international coalition have officially declared the end of Operation Inherent Resolve against the Islamic State in Iraq, news outlets CBS News and Channels TV reported.

According to the Pentagon, US forces and equipment have been withdrawn from Iraq after the group was declared defeated as an organized military threat across the country and the wider region. Coalition troops were originally deployed to Iraq and Syria in 2014 to combat the advance of ISIS and the massacres and enslavement perpetrated by the group.
