Judge Orders White House to Restore Press Credentials for Banned Outlets

A U.S. federal judge has ordered the administration to immediately reinstate the permanent press credentials of journalists from CNN, Politico, and MS NOW. According to reports from ABC News and the BBC, the court found that revoking their passes without prior notice or an opportunity to contest the decision likely violated their constitutional right to due process.

Despite the ruling, its enforcement met immediate friction on the ground. As reported by The Guardian, lawyers representing the news organizations requested an emergency hearing after reporters were initially turned away from the White House on Thursday morning and had their credentials confiscated by the Secret Service, before the White House complied with the order.
