US Envoy Witkoff to Present Peace Proposal to Putin Following Oslo Talks

White House envoy Steve Witkoff will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on Wednesday to present an updated proposal for a framework agreement to end the war in Ukraine, Axios and The Jerusalem Post reported. Jared Kushner, adviser and son-in-law to the US president, is set to join the meeting virtually.

The trip to Russia follows talks Witkoff held in Oslo with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European representatives. A US official stated that the discussions made meaningful progress. Zelensky said the next step should involve a trilateral summit with himself, Putin, and Trump, adding that Kyiv is prepared to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries if Moscow takes reciprocal steps.
