Flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar has undergone surgery in Saudi Arabia and is in stable condition after being stabbed in the cockpit by his copilot.
The captain of the Flydubai flight, Smit Machchhar, is in stable condition after undergoing surgery at a hospital in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, network i24NEWS and news outlet Kikar HaShabbat reported. Machchhar, an Indian national, was injured when he was stabbed inside the cockpit by his Omani first officer.
The Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia stated that diplomatic staff remain in regular contact with his family and local medical personnel. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly extended his wishes for a swift recovery to the pilot. Further details regarding his medical recovery or potential discharge have not yet been released.
